Michael graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School and received his specialist obstetric and gynaecology training in Queensland and the United Kingdom. He learned a great deal at the ‘birthplace’ of IVF, Bourn Hall in Cambridge, and describes this as a personal pilgrimage.
He commenced private practice on the Gold Coast in 1998. Describing obstetrics as both the most stressful and most rewarding of jobs, Michael takes great pleasure in assisting couples conceive, caring for them during pregnancy and delivering their baby.
As a specialist in laparoscopic surgery, Dr Flynn was awarded the Australian Gynaecology Endoscopy Society Travelling Fellowship in laparoscopic surgery in 2000 and regards this technique has having transformed the management of women's health.
In addition to his work in private practice, Dr Flynn has co-authored the widely popular university student text, Examination Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Once a year, he travels to Papua New Guinea to volunteer his time and expertise at the Mt Hagan Hospital, delivering babies and performing surgery.
Michael was a founding partner of Fertility Gold Coast in 2000 which has since become Queensland Fertility Group Gold Coast.
